Ladies Deposit Company Scandal is exposed.

(Oct.) Operated by Mrs. Sarah Howe, the investment company is located in an elegant townhouse that she purchases at 2 East Brookline Street. According to Alison Barnet, although the company is described by as doing business “only with single women of modest means,” it is actually a pyramid scheme that swindles its victims. Howe is subsequently found guilty of soliciting money under false pretenses and sentenced to the Suffolk county House of Correction.
